Canon David Link was honored on May 29th for thirty years as Director of Music/organist & choirmaster at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Sacramento, California. The Cathedral Choir, Celebration Choir, Resurrexit, and Cathedral Choristers sang music specially prepared for the occasion, and general merriment and eating ensued.
During his thirty years at the Cathedral, Canon Link founded the Cathedral Music Series and the Annual Diocesan Choir Festival. The Cathedral Choir has taken five trips to England, in residence at Wells, Chichester, Salisbury, Winchester, Norwich, Lincoln, Truro, Peterborough, Canterbury, and Southwark Cathedrals, as well as York Minster and Westminster Abbey. He has worked with three different Bishops and three different Deans during his tenure, and has been blessed with the gifts of many talented singers and musicians over the years. He is currently overseeing the restoration and enlargement of the Cathedral’s 1983 Reuter pipe organ.
In honor of his thirty years of ministry, Canon Link took the summer of 2015 as a sabbatical, enjoying backpacking the Wonderland Trail circumnavigating Mount Rainier, and sleeping in on Sunday mornings.
